Daria Crymes
As a Portland native, Daria Crymes can appreciate the dramatic and exciting changes that have taken place in our community over the past 15 years; particularly with the revitalization of Portland’s older neighborhoods, where community hubs have developed- each with their distinct character and charm. Daria recognizes the role of “responsible” density increase, as it brings us closer to our neighbors and places of work, while preserving natural spaces.
At the University of Oregon Daria earned a degree in Sustainable Community Development. This study, combined with years spent overseas in Ecuador, Japan, Italy, and Switzerland, has given Daria a deepened appreciation for the meaning of community and sustainability. Together with her husband (architect Ben Waechter), Daria has spent a good portion of the last 10 years living and working in Europe while studying contemporary European architecture and sustainable building practices.
Now back in Portland, Daria has an expanded appreciation for the efforts of designers and builders in maintaining the integrity of older homes and buildings, while bringing them up to current energy and building standards. Her insight into architecture, building and renovation allow her to share with her clients the potential to improve a building or space with her clients that may not be noticeable at first glance. Daria and her husband are part of a small community of architects and builders creating new living and working spaces that are designed and built to be “people freindly” and energy efficient. They believe that Green practices promote healthy lives and contribute to a strong local community and economy.
Purchasing a home– or building a home– is often the biggest monetary investment most people ever make. In working with her clients, Daria draws on her clear communication skills and on her experience as a Realtor, developer, and a savvy native Portlander. She uses her insight into the current & future markets to assist her clients in (1) arriving at the best price for selling their property and in (2) finding the best property, at the best price, to meet their needs and dreams. Daria very much enjoys working with people regarding matters of real estate. It is an added pleasure for her to work with clients who are interested in the architecture of our community, “greener” lifestyles, and more sustainable building practices. “I always feel honored and excited to be a part of my client’s process.”
Daria also enjoys various outdoor pursuits with her family from white water rafting and kayaking trips to back country skiing. She regularly gathers with friends and neighbors to craft, knit or discuss books and is often riding around town to school with her children, to work or just for fun!
