My favorite house today on tour was a 1955 classic mid-century ranch in SE Portland. The house has exquisite brick work on all sides and sits on a beautiful dead end street location with a .25 acre lot. The high points are original woodwork with built ins in all the bedrooms, yummy pecan hardwoods, a gracious formal living and dining room with casual family room and kitchen on the flip side, HUGE basement with shop, full bath and enough room I imagined another family or in-laws living comfortably in the space, radiant heat, generous outdoor spaces, and the period bath with soak tub and pink tile. The only thing left to do to polish this mid-century gem is a period appropriate remodel in the kitchen. My pick would be plywood cabinets and a white quartz counter to give it a fresh modern look. This would be an interior designers dream to showcase modern furnishings and fine Art with the bright large scale rooms.
