Sundeleaf Mid-century Modern on Mt. Tabor

Posted by: jenelle

9076688-1

Our buyers; Cameron and Jason have found a remarkable mid-century modern ranch designed by renowned Portland Architect Richard Sundeleaf. Sundeleaf homes are quality stream line modern ranches. A signature element in the Sundeleaf homes I have seen are floor to ceiling windows in the living areas that let in natural light and give sweeping views of the back yard. Cameron and Jason are purchasing this unique home from the original owners. The sellers have compiled a long list of memorabilia regarding the building of the house and their relationship with Sundeleaf. My favorite is a personal letter from the home owner asking Sundeleaf to please return his calls because he is ready to build and tired of waiting. His closing signature at the bottom states “how about it pal?”. The home is in beautiful original condition, and the few details that have changed such as wall paper in the kitchen are documented in the family photos left with the blueprints, expense sheets from the building which equaled a grand total of 18,000 in the 1950’s. This is an amazing home that Cameron and Jason’s family will surely live in for the rest of their days. A mid century utopia on an ancient volcano- what could be better than that?

Psst, Here’s the Dirt: GOSSIP is Good!

Posted by: Teri

It was a sizzling hot Saturday night in October because the Gossip rolled into town to heat up our cold bones.  The Wonder Ballroom was sold out for the local band done good, the Gossip, who made a rare appearance here in Portland.  The vibe was high and the crowd was wowed as the band showed off their superior musical skills.  With powerful vocals, sublime drums, and amazing axe men, this group showed why they are crazy loved all over the world.  With a new release out — Music for Men — they’ve embarked on an extensive U.S. tour and are primed to gain a cult following stateside.  If you haven’t heard them — now is the time.  Their lyrics are filled with beauty and vulnerability and speak to many who feel marginalized, especially those in the LGBT community.  Here’s a band who wears their humanity on their sleeve — I love them.  Still, they know how to rock and we all get invited to their party.  It’s uncanny how they can get the curmudgeonliest among us to shake our booties.  Buy their music people!  If we’re lucky they will soon book more shows here.  Judging by the show on Saturday, Portland is ready for more Gossip.  The venue was filled to the gills, with many more outside left wanting.  Powerful, amazing and sexy, we need more of what they got.  Here’s to the Gossip — you know your stuff.  Thanks for bringing your magic to the hometown crowd.  It’s a little colder without you here.  We miss you already and can’t wait til next time.

Get Ready To Fall In Love

Posted by: Teri

Located at 6637 SE 78th, this sweet, 1928 bungalow has 3 bedrooms/2 baths, 2064 square feet. It’s hard to believe you can get a home with character, style AND updates that make it easy to walk through the door and enjoy IMMEDIATELY. FOR UNDER $240k.  But, it’s TRUE. I am a part owner of this place and my partners and I gave this place a total makeover in 2007. All work was done with permits. So, what did we do? All NEW plumbing inside the house, subway tile bathroom on the main floor, refurbished full bath in the basement. All NEW kitchen including cabinets, counters, milk paint on fir floors, new walls, all fixtures and NEW appliances, including stove, refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher. NEW paint inside and out. Many NEW interior doors. NEW carpet in all 3 bedrooms (all bedrooms are above grade with a 4th, non-conforming bedroom in the basement). NEW roof and gutters. Rebuilt covered porches, front and back. NEW fence. Newer furnace and updated electrical. Refinished hardwood floors and refurbished fireplace. NEW sewerline. NEW on-site stormwater management system that earns you clean river rewards. While there is a lot of NEW stuff here, we did our best to retain the vintage character. If you are willing to venture just a little further out, you will be rewarded with the best home available in this price point. This house is a steal at $239,900 – one of the great deals of 2009. This would be an easy and quick closing and it’s still possible (but hurry) to close in time to earn the first-time home buyer’s tax credit. MLS#9078893.
