Living in a house of animal lovers (aka future veterinarians) I couldn’t miss the flyer for Paws&Saws at our local Staccato Gelato.  This boutique tour of 6 of Portland’s pet-friendly remodeled homes is next Saturday, June 6th.  A benefit for the Oregon Humane Society, it starts with a free cup of joe from Iron Mutt Coffee and ends with a glass of Widmer and slice of pizza at Old Town Pizza Vanport.  With homes by Arciform, Green Hammer, and Mosaik Design, this will be dog (and cat) lover heaven.  Oh, and you can adopt a pooch while you’re there…  Purchase tickets online at www.pawsandsaws.com.  Tickets are limited to 1,000.

Congratulations to Sascha  and Mike on their new home!   This three bedroom and two bath home close to freeway access as well as an easy commute downtown, has been recently remodeled and updated thruout.  Upgrades include new paint inside and out,  a new gas furnace, hot water heater, appliances and plumbing.  The spacious layout caught Sascha’s eye immediately as it gives them both room to endulge their hobbies with sewing space upstairs for Sascha and a basement for Mike’s hobbies.  The additional family room off the kitchen opens to the fenced yard where Cosmo their dog will be spending his days lounging.  All this space also means there’s room to host the family and friends coming to town in just a couple weeks to help them celebrate their wedding!   Again, congratulations to Mike and Sascha on their new home and best wishes in the upcoming marriage!

Stop the bus here is your Mod Urban Dwelling! Live in style in this fabulous & functional home. The 70′s wood stove inspires me to break out my Zeppelin L.P.s, leather fringed vest and rock some sexy dance moves with the one I love. You can move right in to this dialed ranch and enjoy the open floor plan, generously sized bedrooms, new carpet and groovy counter tops. The light and bright two car garage can double as an artist studio. (The former owner a modern design enthusiast and art curator actually hosted a traveling dance troupe using the garage as stage and venue) The home has an amazing over sized sunny, private and fenced yard. A gardeners dream-raise your chickens here!

Art Hop

Last Saturday’s Alberta Art Hop gave neighbors an excuse to get outdoors and take to the streets, literally.  Alberta Street was entirely closed to cars for several blocks, allowing artists of various mediums to set up just off the curb.  The purpose of this event was to promote the Alberta Art District’s distinct cultural identity through art and educational activities.  We sat in our office with the garage door up and watched pedestrians, cyclists, unicyclists, tricyclists, and skaters cruise by on the smooth, newly paved road.  Several even slowed down to peer inside our new office, or came through to see the art!  We even had a parade float on by in the hot summer sun, bringing with it a theater troupe, tiny eco-cars, kids, dogs, a band, and the Rose City Vaudeville  with their work-in-progress vintage double-decker English bus!  Candy was not throw gaily to the crowd (I was disappointed) but people were happy to have the freedom to roam with skirts flowing and shoulders bare.
